Featuring AFVN Radio

1954 - 1975

November 1, 1955 -- The U.S. redesignates MAAG, Indochina, as MAAG, Vietnam to specify its new direct combat advisory role with the South Vietnamese Army. The U.S. essentially took over the advisory role from the French, who were leaving Vietnam after their defeat at Diem Bien Phu in 1954. The Department of Defense views this date as the earliest qualifying date for inclusion on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Jerry Blavat - Geator's RnR R&B Express

Take a one hour ride into the musical enclycopedic mind of legendary disc jockey, and Philadelphia icon Jerry Blavat. The Geator plays the roots of rock and roll and R&B with a local slant that has made Philly one of the great music cities of the world but also the music that inspired generations. Jerry Blavat, known to millions as "The Geator with the Heator" and "The Boss with the Hot Sauce," is the man many credit with having invented the oldies craze. A broadcasting pioneer, Blavat was the first disc jockey in the early '60s to play music from the '50s. He took risks, introducing audiences to songs no one else played, which became local and national hits all over again.

Jimmy is the host of the Rewind show.  This show features the greatest oldies artists of all-time with interviews and music.  Born in Dorchester, Jimmy was brought up in Quincy, both in Massachusetts. He began his gig on radio the day of his 19th birthday January 11, 1969, with the first record he played, Tommy Roe’s “Dizzy,” heralding in his career at WEIM in Fitchburg MA.

Today, radio listeners can continue to indulge in the upbeat music memories of the 1950s, 60s and 70s with his syndicated “Rewind” show, which currently plays over many stations worldwide.

Wayback Machine

Starting at the age of 14 with WRKO in Boston, Paul has worked with some of the very best in the biz! From the hills of Maryland where he was a late night jock, music director, promotions director, afternoon drive and morning drive host Paul also helped to create the hottest night spot in Maryland. Paul then moved to the northeast where he worked every shift at a 50,000 watt FM station. Recognizing the impact of the internet, Paul left the morning drive and concentrated on net-radio. Signing on with the Broad and Cast Network, Paul "Boston's Half Baked Bean" Warwick brought his Wayback Machine to the world and the #1 spot on the network. Later on, Chuck worked for the old Boston favorite WMEX "All Oldies All Of The Time".
